Demo Program

The Thermo Scientific NanoDropTM 8000 Spectrophotometer enables highly accurate UV/Vis analyses of 1 ul samples, up to 8 at a time. Like the popular Thermo Scientific NanoDropTM 1000 Spectrophotometer, the NanoDrop 8000 utilizes a patented sample retention system that eliminates the need for cuvettes and capillaries. In addition, the high absorbance capability eliminates the need for dilutions in most cases. The user simply loads up to 8 samples (using an 8-channel pipette) and the instrument measures all 8 samples in less than 20 seconds - and cleaning simply requires wiping with an ordinary lab wipe.

The NanoDrop 8000 also comes with a Sample Position Illuminator feature that allows the user to select which well(s) are to be loaded if using a 96-well plate. The selection is done from an on-screen graphical interface and the corresponding well(s) on the plate are illuminated to facilitate the loading process. The software allows for an "auto advance" capability while loading, "cherry picking" well(s) to be illuminated, and setting Out of Range concentration or absorbance limits to be flagged.

The NanoDrop 8000 offers many benefits:

  • Small samples: designed for 1 ul samples
  • Can measure a single sample or up to 8 samples in one measurement cycle.
  • 20 second measurement time for 8 samples
  • Allows user to measure a full 96 well plate in about 6 minutes.
  • Large dynamic range: measures 2.5-3700 ng/ul (dsDNA) on a single sample. No need to change out cuvettes or caps.
  • High absorbance capability: 50 times that of traditional spectrophotometers
  • No Dilutions for most samples
  • No extra costs for consumables
  • Full Spectrum (220-750nm)
  • Sample Position Illuminator feature to help sample loading
  • Auto Advance, Loading well selection and Out of Range Limits capabilities
  • No cuvettes or capillaries
  • Samples are recoverable
  • Small size (32 cm X 24 cm)
  • Easy set up (plug and play)
  • Software designed for life sciences
  • Free software upgrades
