The Thermo Scientific NanoDropTM 1000 Spectrophotometer can be used to measure protein concentration via the Bradford Assay (click here for info on the Bradford assay). This method is often used for more dilute protein solutions where lower detection sensitivity is needed and/or in the presence of components that also have significant UV (280 nm) absorbance. The Bradford uses the protein-induced Absorbance shift of Coomassie Blue dye to 595 nm as a measure of protein concentration and requires standard curve generation each time the assay is run.

Key Features

  • Both Regular and Mini Bradford assays can be run
  • Allows generation of standard curves with up to 7 standards. Four curve fitting analysis options available
  • Concentration of protein is calculated and displayed
  • Reblank feature allows for the re-analysis of previous sample with a new blank
  • Full spectrum data is automatically archived in a text delimited file on the controller PC and easily reviewed using the Data Viewer feature
  • Sample ID field is key-focused for easy bar code reader use
  • Absorbance is represented as a 1mm path equivalent
